As I have been diving further into the local car community I have become fascinated with niche communities that exist within such a small area. Steve Plunkett seems to have carved out a very unique place for himself, with very little competition.
Steve Plunkett owns a large collection of cars, all of them made by General Motors. In 2009 Steve opened up his Cadillac Auto Salon. The word salon refers to "a large room or auditorium", rather than where you go to get your hair cut.
The salon has 18 chandeliers, 8000 sq feet of ceramic tile, imported from Portugal, thousands of square feet of red impressed tin ceiling, an upper mezzanine with a car, and two apartments.
On the main floor there are the V16's and V12's, including some of the most significant and extravagant cars ever made by General Motors.
The reason this building exists is to bring this incredible collection into one building. Each of these cars is spectacular on it's own, but together they are absolutely mind-blowing.
The number of days I could spend learning about these cars is very high, and the days would be very long. Spending time with these cars is also one of the most exciting and relaxing things for anyone who has an appreciation for cars. Knowing that the price tag on these cars starts at around $300,000 brings everything back to reality and makes viewers like me somewhat nervous around these rare works of art. As much as I wanted to run my hands along the curves I couldn't bring myself to risk scratching the paint with the smooth side of my hand.
Instead of beginning the laborious process of describing each car, I'm going to send you to the list of cars on the Fleetwood Country Cruize-in website, and you can see what you think of the 77 car collection for yourself, check it out here.
